Rhino Awnings
One of the original suppliers of vehicle awnings and rack systems, it’s only natural that we chose to parner up with Rhino in 2019. And the big driver of that was the release of the Batwing awning. A big step up in quality compared to its predecesor the Foxwing this awning is the real deal, innovated to provide even more features and benefits. The all-new Batwing is packed with style and function, boasting features designed for aesthetic and easy use. With 270 degrees of shade and 11sqm coverage, the Batwing is the perfect addition to any adventure.
In addition to the Batwing, Rhino also offers the Sunseeker and Dome awnings, suitable for setups where a single side deployment makes more sense, or when a smaller more compact awning is needed.
Rhino Batwing
The Batwing is made from a heavy-duty, water and mold resistant material that has been tested and rated to UPF 50 +, offering maximum sun protection. The Batwing is an upgrade from the older Foxwing, same 270 degrees of coverage, with a few very notable improvements:
Integrated poles- no longer do you have a separate storage bag for poles, these are tied into the awning and just flip down for easy setup.
Attached pouch for your ropes and stakes- Now that little bag of stakes has a home inside the awning.
Magnets to hold the poles in place inside the bag- the old version had a rubber strap for this.
Plastic hinges- they converted the weak point of the awning to an easily replaceable plastic piece, and included 2 extras with the awning.
Plastic feet at the base of the poles which provide stakes to secure in a crossed position, for added security and easier removal.
Integrated tensioning strap with quick-release buckle, secures awning in open position to the rack using the supplied rack cleat.
Generous storage bag size- large enough to also hold an optional sidewall with poles.
Batwing awnings are available in both LH and RH, and also small and large sizes. Our recommendation is the large size, and for the best setup also adding a set of three Gamiviti roof rack receivers, which allow you to install/uninstall your awning to your truc in less than a minute. This lets you store the awning safe and secure for daily driver duty, then quickly install it when it’s time to hit the trail, head for camp, or the soccer game. It also allows you to remove the awning to get it out of the way while loading up your rack & stowing your RTT.
Batwing Sidewalls
You can add new use and value to your Batwing awning by adding up to 4 optional sidewalls, or as they call them, tapered zip extensions. These zip onto the zipper that is already sewn to your awning, then extend outward supported by supplied poles for additional shade, or you can run them down at an angle and stake them to the ground. Benefits of the sidewalls include:
Significantly increase your shade coverage. Great for extending over picnic tables, or just providing shade for more people and space.
Provide a wind break. Install the wall vertically on the side where the wind is coming from, to provide protection behind it.
Provide a sun break. Install the wall vertically on the side where the sun is setting, to provide additional shading from the hot summer sun.
Create a shelter. Add multiple walls to create your own room attached to your vehicle. Great when added privacy is needed, or to protect your group from the elements.
All of the extensions (side walls) come with a carry case, 2 poles, bag with stakes and ropes, and the wall. Additional wall benefits include:
Walls are all the same size, so they can zip anywhere along the awning. You can run 1, 2, 3, or 4 walls on a Batwing awning.
Walls work with both driver and passesger side awnings.
Walls also zip to Sunseeker awnings- so if you have one of each awning, you can use the same wall for both.
Sunseeker and Dome Awnings
A more simple approach to the awning, the Sunseeker and Dome awnings offer a nice quality unit for shade coverage off the side of your vehicle. Its small, lightweight shape makes it ideal to pair to our multi brackets for OEM roof rack installs, and also makes it easy to move around using our rack receivers. The Sunseeker is a great fit for longer applications, as its 8’ length is sure to provide ample shade, while the Dome awning is great for setups requiring a smaller awning footprint, or for really short vehicles, or really tall people.
