We love solar power when we’re out exploring, perhaps a little too much. You’ve seen solar panels mounted on our roof racks, solar used in our videos, so it’s only fitting that we also provide a handful of solar solutions for your vehicle.

Hood solar kits

Hood-mounted solar panels are the ideal solution when you want to add continuous solar charging, no setup, and still retain full use of your roof and roof rack space. They also help reduce sun glare by adding a dark spot to your hood, and of course look cool in the process. Key features of all hood solar kits include…

100w flexible solar panel, ultrathin & lightweight. At only 3mm/0.12 inches thick, weighing up to 60% less than conventional solar panels.
Charge the vehicle battery, second battery, or power station (jackery, goal zero, etc) during daylight.

Kits are available for EVERY TOYOTA AND LEXUS 4x4, and more. We have the most common trucks that we work with included in the drop-down menu above, however if you don’t see your vehicle please reach out to us to confirm availability, most likely we can get it. Also note that on some vehicles we use either 2 or 3 panels to work around hood contours and air scoops, again please reach out to confirm exactly what kit will be best fit your rig.

Additional kit information

Kits come with everything you need to install solar onto your rig, the only extra items may be additional wire for more custom controller installs. To install, the vinyl decal is attached to your clean hood (it’s a huge sticker) then the panel is taped on top of that. If desired, a small bead of silicone or polyurethane sealant can be added around the perimeter of the panel. The vinyl decal insures that no damage will happen to your paint.

Separate panels, vinyl decals are also sold separately if you do not wish to purchase the full kits, just ask us what you need.

roof solar kits

Roof solar kits are similar to the hood kits, in that they provide a turnkey solution for adding solar power to your rig. The big difference is that these kits use a thicker panel, so not as thin and flexible as the hood panels, as they are intended to be mounted on top of of the roof of vehicles, campers, and trailers. The roof solar panels also come with some unique key benefits…

Higher wattage- panels are available from 50 to 400 watts from a single panel
More shade tolerant- twin array design enables these panels to provide more wattage even with partially obstructed by trees, cross bars, or roof racks.
EFTE laminated membrane offers improved light penetration, while providing resistance to heat, UV, and future discoloration.
Installation advantage- wire routing can be easier from the roof compared to off the back of the hood. Roof mounted panels are also hidden, for those who prefer to not see their solar panels.
Lower cost- roof solar kits are cheaper than hood kits, at the equivalent wattage.
