awning brackets
At Gamiviti we have developed a number of solutions for adding an awning, shower enclosure, rod case, or other accessory to your vehicle, compatible with OEM racks, Gamiviti racks, other aftermarket roof racks, cross bars, even trailers. Please refer to the gallery below, which will help you find the best for your rack and awning situation, or read through all of the options below the gallery. Links to product-specific pages appear in the descriptions below.
vehicles with stock, oem roof racks
For anyone running the original stock rack on a 1998-2021 Land Cruiser, Lexus LX470, 08-15 LX570, 4th gen 4Runner, Lexus GX470, Sequoia, Rav4, or some other Toyota or Lexus with a slotted side rail, these are for you.
Our multi brackets with the OEM rail kit are a great solution for smaller awnings, including most 90° awnings, up to the Batwing 270 awning with added adapter plates.
Our OEM Rail Brackets are a great solution for small to medium-sized awnings, including Rhino, OVS, and Ironman awnings. see below.
Another option is to add 2 or 3 extrusion cross bars, which would lap on top of your side rails. You interface the 2 using our accessory angle brackets, which come with some of the bundles found on the cross bar page.
5th Gen 4runner with OEM roof rails
Our multi brackets with the OEM rail kit are a great solution for smaller awnings, including most 90° awnings, up to the Batwing 270 awning with added adapter plates.
Our Miti Brackets, paired with the awning plates, are your solution for larger smaller to medium-sized awnings, including Rhino, OVS, and Ironman awnings. coming December 2024
the difference between your 4Runner and most other Toyota/Lexus models with similar cross bars is not only is your factory rack really short, but it’s also very low- there’s very little gap between the rail and your roof. So the narrow L-support that comes with the OEM rail kit on the Multi Bracket fits great, but that bracket is limited to the smaller awnings. If you desire to run something larger, then those require the wider spacing found on our awning plates, yet when paired with the OEM rail arms those arms can make contact with your roof. So to solve this, we developed the Miti Bracket, which is a new solution for adding the larger awning plates to the lower roof rail of the 5th gen 4Runner. Also if you have a TRD Pro with that tube style rack like they put on the FJ Cruiser, none of our brackets will work for you.
80 series land cruiser 1993-1997
The 93-97 OEM Land Cruiser and LX450 racks are pretty weak… just 4 M5 bolts per side run into weld nuts tacked to sheet metal, with no structural backing. So while you could potentially get away with the OEM roof rack options, the result is you’ll twist your side rails, you may actually can see the roof dent a little if it’s a heavy awning. So unless you plan to keep it really light ((Rhino Sunseeker, or 6’ 90° awning) + Multi Brackets)) the suggestion is to upgrade to some roof channel towers and cross bars, or consider a full rack upgrade.
Lexus lx570 2016-2021
You are also unique, in that you received the lower rails that run right against the roof, similar to the GX460 and LX600. Which means you can’t run any of our OEM brackets that wrap around the rail and/or bolt to the inside, and you can’t remove those rails to upgrade to our roof channel towers, without first removing your headliner. So for you we have developed a unique clamp system just for your roof rails, called the LX570 Brackets which allows you to add a pair of extrusion cross bars across your factory rails, upon which you can bolt your awning brackets.
lexus gx460
Similar to the newer LX570, your stock rails are low and tight to the roof, and none of our bolt-on brackets will mount to them. However you have a distinct advantage in that you can easily remove those rails, from the top of the vehicle. Which means you can easily upgrade to our roof channel towers to create a cross bar system, or even upgrade to a full roof rack, both of which will support an awning easily.
extrusion roof racks and cross bars
For those running a bolt-together extrusion rack like Sherpa, Prinsu, Victory, Bowfin, etc. or just a set of extrusions used as cross bars, we have the following options:
You can run our rack receivers, paired with our extrusion adapter plates found on the rack bracket page.
You can also run our our rack arms and awning plates on top of your rack, and both on top and underneath your cross bars, as an alternative to the rack receivers and adapter plates.
Yakima round bars
Our Multi Brackets paired with our tube clamps will create an awning bracket on the end of your Yakima bars, allowing you to mount a small to medium-sized awning or shower enclosure, up to a Rhino Batwing with the added batwing adapter plates. You can also use your stock Yakima clamps, as an alternative to the tube clamps.
gamiviti roof racks
The Hangover brackets are likely our best awnings brackets, made for mounting to the top of your rack. 2 of these brackets will support any small to medium-sized awning, up to a 5” slot spacing, including Rhino, OVS, and Ironman awnings.
Our rack receivers are a great solution for installing awnings to the bottom of your roof rack, and work for any small to medium-sized awning up to and including the Rhino, OVS, and Ironman awnings we carry. The generous slots on the awning side accommodate spacing up to 5” slot spacing, 3 rack receivers are recommended for the larger heavier awnings, while 2 are sufficient for the smaller sized 90° awnings.
The multi brackets are also an option for those smaller 90° awnings, using the additional rack edge install kit. You can run up to a Rhino Batwing if you add the optional Batwing Adapter plates.
And our rack arms and awning plates also work for mounting both on top and underneath your rack, as an alternative to the rack receivers.
Finally, our Megabrackets were made specifically for the excessively large, needlessly heavy, legless awnings where you feel you need for more added support and gusseting of an enormous bracket, sitting on top of your rack. Original example being the Alu Cab Shadow awning.
OEM Rail Brackets
These brackets are a direct bolt-up for any Land Cruiser with an OEM rack 1991 or newer, also any 4th Gen 4Runner, GX470, or LX450, LX470, and any LX570 older than 2016. They also fit other Toyota/Lexus rails such as Rav4, Sequoia, and may fit other models also if they have the same basic shape, and internal slot on the inside. Mounting these is easy- they come supplied with M8 bolts, washers, and channel nuts, so you simply turn the bracket 90 degrees to get it around your factory rail, then work in the channel nuts from the back side to secure.
New in 2023 we launched Gen2 of the OEM rail bracket, with the additional feature of the removable arms and adjustable height. These brackets are intended to support any small to medium-sized awnings, up to an including the Rhino Batwing. Not recommended for larger, heavier awnings like the OVS/23zero/Overlandpros or Tuffstuff awnings, those will contact your vehicle roof and are close to double the weight of the smaller awnings. And any free standing awning is likely too much torsional load for your OEM rack. But how you choose to mod your truck is up to you, so your call on pushing the limits of your OEM rack.
Key features and benefits of the Gamiviti OEM Rail Awning brackets include…
Simple yet effective way to attach a bracket system to the extruded rail of your Toyota/Lexus.
Removable arms to make installation easier, also provide multiple height positions.
Scalability. The awning plates can be repurposed and combined with our rack arms, when you upgrade from your stock OEM rack to an aftermarket rack system or set of cross bars.
Innovative quick-release system. By adding pins to the rack arms, the awning plates will slip into position, secured into position using bolts or an additional pin. This simplifies adding/removing your awning before and after each trip.
5th Gen 4Runner people: This product is not recommended for 5th gen 4Runners, instead we suggest using our Multibracket for installation of awnings to your factory rail. The issue is that your factory rail sits lower on the roof, compared to the 4th gen, and any Land Cruiser for that matter, making it so the clearance is just too tight between this product and your roof. It is possible for you to make it work with some modification, but if you want a solution right out of the box this isn’t it, instead go with the Multibracket. See the images below.

Multi Brackets
Similar to the OEM Rail Brackets, Multi Brackets can attach to an OEM rail of most Toyota and Lexus vehicles. They can also attach to aftermarket roof racks, and provide an additional attachment point for traction ramps, shovels, or other small accessories, in addition to an awning or shower enclosure. Uses include:
Brackets attach to most roof racks. Not just Gamiviti, but these are a bolt-up to all of the extrusion and platform-based racks out there, as well as any other rack that uses 1” round tubing.
Brackets mount most awnings. Any awning out there with the smaller single slot or double slot extrusion will bolt right up, with adapter plates available to run the taller Batwing and Foxwing awnings.
Support to add a set of cross bars to your rack. Useful for some cargo boxes, rooftop tents, or carrying large boats & surf boards.
Mounts to factory Toyota racks! New in 2020 with the release of Gen2, you can use these brackets to add a small awning to your OEM roof rails.
Add an awning to your Yakima, Thule, Rhino, or other cross bars.
Attachment point for straps.
Attachment point for Quickfist clamps, addition of shovels, axes, and other small hand tools.
Create blocks on your rack to help secure cargo boxes.

Rack Receivers
These are the original quick-release awning bracket. Updated designs in 2022 allow for more mounting solutions and applications, but the simplicity and functionality of the original design is as good today as it was when we invented this product was several years ago. Some of its key benefits include…
Add an awning “below” your roof rack, allowing you to keep the top of the rack clean for tents, platforms, and other rack uses.
Quickly add and remove your awning as your needs require, allowing you to store your awning safely when not in use.
Ability to swap an awning or shower enclosure from once side of your vehicle to another, or from one vehicle to another.
Ability to temporarily remove your awning while out on a journey, making stowing your tent & packing up other gear easier with the awning out of the way.
